Wildest Dreams

As I sit here writing these words and watching the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics, all I can think is that our world is a beautiful place. Of course there will always be tragic, difficult, ugly, things in it as well, but without this darkness we would never be able to appreciate just how wonderful the good things in life are.

Sorry for the cheesy philosophizing, but the excitement of the Olympics and the unexpected blessing of a snow day have both considerably brightened my view of the world. There's no such thing as too much positivity, right?

For me, this picture was an artistic foray in a new direction. If you recognize the basic outline of the girl's face, it was taken from "Halcyon Moments," a pencil drawing already in my gallery. This final version of the picture represents my first serious attempt to do realistic coloring in Photoshop, so despite its imperfections, I'm still proud of it anyway. I would greatly appreciate any constructive comments and advice you have, but please also keep in mind that I've never really attempted digital coloring before. It was a very fun learning process that I'm extremely glad I tried, and hopefully it also was able to teach me some things that will be useful in the future. Thank you so much for looking!
